Make a Splash Mid-South is a community-wide, volunteer initiative created to give more children the opportunity to learn to swim.

Formed after the tragic deaths of two Memphis teens in 2008, the organization is committed to providing free or low-cost swim lessons, encouraging minority participating in swimming and supporting lifeguard training. Efforts are based on research from the University of Memphis that shows African American and Latino children are more likely to drown compared to their Caucasian counterparts.
